Artists Bob Aldous and Ingrid Plum collaborated on this installation to mark the second anniversary of the London Bombings.
“Elevation from Terror” was displayed in St Pancras Church from 25th June- 13th July.
Ingrid ran workshops for the families of victims and survivors to make origami birds, the traditional origami crane that symbolizes peace. 52 birds were made for the victims of the 7th July bombings. These birds were then suspended above the map of london made by Robert Aldous. In addition, 4 birds were hung above the central aisle to represent the 4 perpetrators. The map was transformed during the exhibition by covering the arial view of London with silver safety blankets, a reflective surface that alludes to a lake.
The installation provided an enhanced aspect for the church at the time of the 2nd anniversary of the bombings. For more information visit the website www.elevationfromterror.com or the blog.
